Sergio Aguero disclosed his retirement from football on Wednesday after he was diagnosed with a heart condition.
The Argentine striker made a sensational move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window. Sadly, he did not have time to make his mark at the Spanish club.
However, Aguero definitely left his mark at Manchester City and is one of the greatest foreign players to have ever played in the Premier League. Even with the Argentine national team and before joining City, his entire career was full of memorable moments.
Here is a countdown of five of the most memorable moments of Aguero’s football career.
5. When he became Man City’s all-time top scorer
Sergio Aguero became Manchester City’s all-time top goalscorer as he netted his 178th goal for the club in a game against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.
The record-breaking goal came in the 69th minute; Aguero raced through on goal before firing past Pepe Reina.
He surpassed Eric Brook’s 78-year-old record of 177 goals and finished with 260 goals for the club.

2. When he won the 2021 Copa America
Like many Argentine players in the last two decades, Aguero craved a trophy with his senior national team. However, the trophy finally came in 2021 when Argentina triumphed over Brazil. He won the title alongside his close friend, Lionel Messi.
