The Ugandan viral film “The Girl in the Yellow Jumper” is coming to Netflix

After its director pranked Ugandans with a collection of trailer clips labeled as the film's leaked version, the feature film became a trending topic.

The Girl in the Yellow Jumper, a viral feature film by Loukman Ali, has been confirmed for a Netflix release.

The Ugandan film, which made headlines in 2020 after the original version of the film was leaked just days before its premiere, will be released on the streaming service on Christmas Day.

The 2020 thriller, which Ali produced and directed, tells the story of a man who escapes a hostage situation and returns home with a story to tell. Rehema Nanfuka, Philip Luswata, Michael Wawuyo Jr., Gladys Oyenbot, and Maurice Kirya are among the cast members.

The Girl in the Yellow Jumper, which was scheduled to premiere in Kampala in April 2020, was put on hold due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The film’s production company announced an online premiere shortly after its delayed-release, and it was allegedly leaked on YouTube days before the scheduled premiere.

Unfortunately for eager fans, the leak turned out to be a joke, as Ali released a version of the trailer clips with the tag “leaked version of the film.”

In 2018, the film “The Girl in the Yellow Jumper” was shot in Northern Uganda.
