Following the release of trailers for Marry Me, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Top Gun Maverick, it appears that Paramount+’s first quarter of 2022 will be jam-packed with diverse titles.
Sandra Bullock plays Loretta Sage, an exceptional but detached writer whose writing career is based on romance adventures set in exotic locations, in The Lost City, which was recently released. The dashing model Alan (Channing Tatum), who embodies her heroic main character in her book series, is featured on her book covers. In her latest novel, Loretta is kidnapped while promoting her new book by a cocky billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who believes Loretta can lead him to the ancient lost city’s treasure. After learning of her kidnapping, Alan sets out to rescue her, desperate to prove that he can be a hero in real life as well as in books.
Loretta and Alan are thrown into an epic adventure that requires them to survive life-threatening jungle dangers while determining whether the treasure is a myth or real. While they’re at it, the exhibition of exotic rainforests, spring falls, and lots of banter sparks a “colleagues to lovers” fling between the unlikely pair.
The adventure-romance genre is beginning to gain traction, thanks to the success of Disney’s Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. Who doesn’t enjoy a good adventure film, especially when it features fan-favorite and Oscar-nominated actors, as The Lost City does? The Lost City is written and directed by Adam Nee and Aaron Nee, with creative input from Oren Uziel and Dana Fox. It features a jaw-dropping cameo from Hollywood powerhouse Brad Pitt.
