Lindelof fitted with heart monitor – Manchester United give update on Swedish defender

A return date for Victor Lindelof has not been set yet with the defender being fitted with a heart monitor

Manchester United have confirmed that Victor Lindelof is still undergoing investigations as the club strive to bring back the defender to full fitness following a breathing episode on Sunday. The Swedish defender had breathing difficulties in the Premier League clash against Norwich City and had to be replaced by Eric Bailly in the 74th minute.

The Old Trafford side have now released a statement on their official website concerning the situation of the 27-year-old centre-back.

Lindelof have featured 18 times for the Red Devils this season

The statement read: “Victor is currently undergoing a series of precautionary investigations however he has recovered well from the episode he experienced in the match against Norwich. All indications are that this is not linked to any Covid outbreak within the club.”

The defender’s wife Maja Lindelof took to her blog to disclose that the defender was fitted with a heart monitor after a series of tests.

“It was a scary match to watch and Victor was very concerned afterwards. Yesterday he did a lot of tests and has a heart monitor on for two days to make sure everything is OK. Everything seems to be okay as luck would have it and we are waiting for answers to the last tests that will end tomorrow,” Maja wrote.

United interim manager Ralf Rangnick is optimistic about Lindelof’s recovery, hoping that the defender should be back in action soon.

“After the game, we did some check-ups and some examinations by the doctor, it seems everything is okay. We still have to see how he is doing tomorrow. Hopefully, he will be fit for the game against Brentford,” the German tactician said.

Manchester United were due to face Brentford on Tuesday evening but the game has been cancelled due to an outbreak of coronavirus in the United squad. The Red Devils should be next in action on Saturday 18th December at home to Brighton as they continue their resurgence under Rangnick.
