Linda Osifo claims that producers once turned her down because of her accent

Linda Osifo, a Benin-born Nollywood actress, has spoken out about her experience as a newcomer to the industry.

In an interview with BBC Pidgin, the actress revealed how difficult it was for her to find work when she returned to Nigeria from Canada at the age of 22.

Osifo sobbed as she recalled how, due to her foreign accent, she was never called back for auditions.

After a few years, the “Tanwa Savage” star revealed that she finally got her big break when she landed a role in Ebonylife Studios’ “Desperate Housewives Africa.” The role earned her her first award nomination in the Exquisite Ladies of the Year Award category for Best Actress in a Television Series.

Osifo also has roles in “Tanwa Savage” and “Devil in Agbada,” both produced by Uche Jombo and starring BBNaija’s Erica Nlewedim.
